1. Mission Statement

The H55SL exists to promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among adults aged 54 and older through organized recreational soccer in Honolulu. Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for senior athletes to continue participating in the sport they love.

2. League Structure

• League Name: Honolulu 55 Soccer League (H55SL)

• Location: Waipio Soccer Complex, Honolulu, HI

• Game Format: 8v8 matches on half-sized outdoor fields

• Seasons: Year-round, excluding June and July for field maintenance

• Teams: The league currently includes 6 teams

3. Eligibility

• Players must be 54 years of age or older at the time of registration

• All players must complete a waiver and medical clearance form

• Registration is completed via over55league.com

• Tryouts may be required to ensure appropriate placement based on skill level

4. Registration & Fees

• Full-season fee: $110

• Mid-season fee: $70 (if joining halfway through)

• Payment is due upon registration unless otherwise approved by the team manager

5. Player Conduct and Disciplinary Action

Player safety and respect are paramount. All players must adhere to the H55SL Code of Conduct and IFAB rules as implemented by FIFA and U.S. Soccer.

Yellow Card Policy:

• 1 yellow card = 5-minute sit-out

• 2 yellow cards in a game = automatic red card

• 3 yellow cards in a season = red card + one-week suspension + $30 fine

Red Card Policy:

• 1 red card = one-week suspension + $30 fine

• 2 red cards in a season = suspension for the remainder of the season

The Disciplinary Committee may impose additional suspensions or permanent bans based on the severity of an incident. Aggressive or unsafe conduct toward players, referees, or staff may result in immediate and permanent suspension.

6. Game Day Operations

• Games are played Saturdays at Waipio Soccer Complex

• Each match is officiated by a certified referee

• All game results and standings are officially recorded and posted

• Players must arrive 30 minutes before kickoff for check-in and warm-up

• Shin guards and appropriate footwear are mandatory

7. Communication

All league updates, schedules, and notifications are communicated via:

• League website: over55league.com

• Team captains

• Spond app (for weekly attendance and team coordination)

8. Weather and Cancellations

• In the event of inclement weather, cancellations will be announced at least 2 hours before kickoff via Spond and email

• Makeup games may be scheduled at the discretion of league management

9. Insurance & Liability

• All participants are required to sign a liability waiver

• The league is not responsible for injuries or lost/stolen personal items

• Players are encouraged to carry personal health insurance

10. League Leadership

• League Management: Oversees operations and long-term planning

• Disciplinary Committee: Reviews player conduct issues

• Team Managers/Captains: Handle team-specific communication and logistics

11. Grievance Procedure

Any complaints or disputes must be submitted in writing to the League Management. All matters will be reviewed and addressed within 7 business days.

12. Amendments

H55SL reserves the right to amend these policies and procedures at any time. Players will be notified in advance of any changes.
